The role: Developer Programs Engineer

As a Developer Programs Engineer at Google, you will be a member of the Developer Relations organization. Developer Relations is focused on driving the success of Google’s developer products and the open web by creating a thriving ecosystem of 3rd party applications and businesses built on them. You will be an evangelist for our newest technologies in the outside world, as well as a vocal advocate for developers’ needs within Google. We expect you to be an engineer who thrives on the cutting edge of technology and loves seeing exciting, new applications and business that other developers are building. As a Developer Programs Engineer you will interact with and support third-party developers. In this position, you will be responsible for growing and supporting the developer community around products such as Chrome, Android, App Engine, Google Wave, Google Maps API, HTML5, and also support our core Google Apps and Ads businesses. You should have strong web or mobile application development skills and love troubleshooting challenging coding issues and participating in developer communities.

Responsibilities:

Assist third-party developers in troubleshooting their integrations with Google APIs and use of other Google developer products.
Manage and participate in developer discussion forums and support queues to debug and resolve technical/coding problems.
Write sample code and client libraries, and contribute to open source projects.
Build strong ecosystem for developer products by blogging, writing technical articles, making presentations at developer conferences, and working with local developer communities.
Help product engineering teams improve developer products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs, and testing new features.

Requirements:

BA/BS preferred in Computer Science or a similar technical degree.
Significant engineering / programming work experience.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
Strong web application or mobile application development experience.
Solid knowledge of XML, with experience using SOAP or REST web services preferred.
Solid programming abilities in one or more of the following languages: Java, PHP, Python, Ruby, .NET, JavaScript.
Experience as a committer in an open source project is desirable.
